New Predictive Coding Capability Helps Clients Accurately and Cost Effectively Accelerate Electronic Discovery Reviews
SALT LAKE CITY (January 23, 2012) – Orange Legal Technologies, a leading national provider of electronic discovery litigation, audit, and investigation services for law firms and corporations, today announced the adoption of automated predictive review technologies through a partnership with OrcaTec, an Atlanta-based provider of technology for reducing the time, cost and effort of analyzing, categorizing and retrieving documents from large collections of electronic documents. The partnership and adoption of OrcaTec’s predictive coding technology immediately enables OrangeLT™ to deliver automated first pass review to clients as part of its complete portfolio of electronic discovery services.
“Combining the benefits of advanced evidence-based document categorization from OrcaTec with the proven capability of the OneO® Discovery Platform for analytics, processing and review allows OrangeLT to enable automated first pass attorney document review with greater accuracy less expensively than currently available alternative technologies,” shared Bret Laughlin, President and CEO of Orange Legal Technologies. “The advanced predictive coding technology from OrcaTec also provides the perfect complement to our attorney review services allowing us to provide clients with a truly complete review offering of advanced technology and expert talent.”
“Predictive coding has become a ‘must have’ for eDiscovery because it saves companies so much time and money while actually increasing review accuracy,” said Arnaud Viviers, CEO and President of OrcaTec. “OrangeLT clearly recognizes this and, by adopting OrcaTec’s advanced predictive coding technology, steps into the forefront of those organizations providing predictive coding as part of their service offering.”
OrangeLT’s automated predictive review service, enabled by OrcaTec, predicts which electronic documents in a collection of documents are going to be responsive or non-responsive based on input from an expert, usually the lead attorney on the case. The automated predictive review service begins with a series of random document samples from the reviewable data collection. This random sampling approach is unique among automated predictive review technologies and prevents missed documents which can occur from potential seeding, presumption or keyword searching errors. After the expert marks several sets of random samples as responsive or non-responsive, the technology is able to “predict” which of the documents in the remainder of the set will in fact be responsive. Actual attorney reviews enabled by OrcaTec’s predictive coding technology have found that more than 90% of predictive coding produced documents are in fact responsive.
Orange Legal Technologies and OrcaTec will be available to discuss the technology partnership and demonstrate the advanced predictive review technologies and services at the LegalTech® 2012 conference taking place from January 30 to February 1, 2012 in New York City.
